A SURFER died at Gunnamatta beach on Saturday 27 May after being hit on the head by his board.
Des Watson, 65, of Armstrong Creek, had been competing in a Kneeboard Victoria event when he was found unconscious in the water about 11am. Fellow competitors helped drag him ashore. Emergency services were unable to resuscitate Mr Watson who died on the beach.
Police are preparing a report for the coroner.
