The annual rose pruning event is the most important event on the Mornington Botanical Rose Gardens calendar.
Not only is it necessary for the on-going care of the rose bushes, it is a social event for the many volunteers who give their time and energy to the garden.
This year the event is planned for Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th July from 8.30am to 4.30pm each day.
The Victorian Rose Society supports this event and provides FREE rose pruning demonstrations for the public. These will be scheduled for 11am and 2pm Saturday and 11am on Sunday. The demonstrations proved to be very popular last year and were well attended.
Major sponsor Neutrog will provide a limited number of free sample bags to the people attending.
The event is always well attended and enjoyed by the volunteers, the public and guests. The annual pruning is necessary and produces amazing results when the roses bloom again in late October or early November.
Mornington Botanical Rose Gardens is managed, maintained and almost fully funded by the hard work of the volunteers. The volunteers work in the garden on Monday and Tuesday and work on many fundraising activities throughout the year including high teas held from October to March, card and bookmark sales, mothers’ day stalls and sausage sizzles.
