TRAFFIC police taking part in the National Day of Action say it is a direct response to the “horror year which is taking place on Australian roads”.
As part of the campaign an alcohol and drug testing site was set up in Marine Parade, Hastings where 321 drivers were breath tested, with one returning a positive result for drugs.
Police say they plan to set up testing sites at random locations across the peninsula to conduct mobile and stationary speed checks.
Up until Wednesday last week 13 people had lost their lives on Frankston and Mornington Peninsula roads.
