POLICE on a drive-by say they spotted cannabis plants growing in the backyard of a house in Rye last week before arresting the occupant.
Senior Sergeant Steve Duffee, of Rosebud police station, said the officers acting on a tip-off “looked over the fence” of the Dundas Street property before returning with a warrant, Saturday 9 February.
As well as the six cannabis plants they allegedly found stolen tradies’ tools valued at $10,000.
A 64-year-old Rye man was later charged with cultivating a drug of dependence and handling stolen goods. He was bailed to appear at Frankston Magistrates’ Court in July.
