Homicide Squad detectives have charged a man following the death of two people in Rye on 2 December. Emergency services were called to a property on Parson Street shortly after 4am following reports of an alleged altercation. It’s alleged a man and a woman had attended the address and became involved in an altercation with the residents of the property. Emergency services were called to reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian on Frankston-Flinders Road, near the Peninsula Link off ramp, about 3pm. MOURNERS gathered at Frankston Pier last weekend to remember the life of Andres Pancha. Pancha was a 45-year-old father of three from Cranbourne West. He was allegedly killed while fishing at Frankston Pier on the morning of 29 June. A man has since been charged with his murder. The charge follows an incident where officers were called to the pier, which runs off Pier Promenade, following reports of an alleged assault just after 6am on Saturday 29 June. Police have arrested a man allegedly in possession of prohibited weapons during a search at a storage facility in Langwarrin. Detectives from the Caulfield Divisional Response Unit executed a search warrant at a storage facility on McClelland Drive, Langwarrin, just after 10pm on 2 April. During the search, police uncovered a range of weapons, including a 3D printed handgun, ten rifles, two shotguns, a substantial amount of ammunition, tasers and an explosive device. POLICE divers conducted a final search last week for the body of a New Zealand student who disappeared in rough surf off rocks near Blairgowrie after he had jumped in to rescue a friend a week earlier. Police are appealing for witnesses following a road rage turned criminal damage incident, last month in Frankston. On Thursday 31 October, the victim was driving along Hillcrest Road, when he noticed a man riding erratically on a motorcycle. Both the victim and the motorcycle turned into Bloom Street where the abuse began. Victoria Police is preparing to activate fixed speed cameras along Peninsula Link for the first time within the next two weeks. Six camera sites have been installed, with two point-to-point sections and three instantaneous detection points in each direction. Police are also issuing a warning to Peninsula Link road users after more than 7500 motorists were detected speeding during a recent 14 day live testing period. More than 500 motorists were detected travelling 15km per hour above the posted speed limit and 66 of those drivers would have lost their licences. Arson and Explosives Squad detectives have located a small amount of explosives at a house at Frankston. The News believes the explosives to be gelignite. A local tradesman doing building works at the property today came across the explosives secreted in the house and alerted police immediately. A MORNINGTON woman missing in Victoria’s remote eastern high country for four days was rescued by police late Sunday morning. Lynette Joyce Bond, 68, was found lying on the banks of the Snowy River, where she had scrawled the word “HELP” in the sand. Her plea was spotted by Air Wing police searching the area by helicopter and she was winched to safety about 11.30am on Sunday 7 April. HASTINGS police have uncovered an amphetamine laboratory allegedly operating in a factory in Marine Parade. A private house in Hastings was also raided as part of an ongoing investigation into amphetamine manufacture and trafficking in the Hastings area.
