THE 10th consecutive Antique Aeroplane Association of Australia Toy Run will be held at Tyabb Airport on Saturday 7 December.Last year over 800 toys were donated to the Foods for All charity, to be distributed to the less privileged kids on the peninsula. Around 1000 people visited the airport during the day. This year Western Port Community Support will be the recipient of the donated toys. A woman has died in hospital following a three-car collision in Tyabb earlier this month. Emergency services were called to the scene on Graydens Road to find a Mitsubishi Triton utility, a Nissan sedan and a Holden Captiva had collided about 6pm on 19 May. The driver and single occupant of the utility, a 20-year-old Crib Point man, was taken to hospital with minor injuries. The driver and single occupant of the Holden, a 43-year-old Baxter woman, was taken to hospital with minor injuries. A PILOT from Albury and his young female passenger escaped injury when their light plane flipped onto its roof when landing at Tyabb airfield last Saturday morning at about 7.15. The pair had flown from Albury, leaving just before 6am. The Cessna 182S Skylane was halfway along the runway when it flipped and sustained “substantial” damage, according to the Aviation Safety Network website. SHIRE councillors have rejected intro­ducing a noise control law for Tyabb Airfield. At Mornington Peninsula Shire’s council meeting, nine of the 11 councillors voted to reject a proposal to adopt Environment Protection Authority noise control guidelines as part of the shire’s Local Laws, which were revised last year. The move has angered and disappointed Tyabb and District Ratepayers, which is likely to take the matter further. The council instead agreed to take up “the offer from Airservices Australia and Australian Mayoral Aviation Council to work through the issues” and called for yet another report. A YOUNG motorcyclist remains in a serious but stable condition in the Alfred Hospital after colliding with a car on Boes Rd, Tyabb, on Monday last week. The accident occurred near Valencia Rise, south of the Mornington-Tyabb and Boes roads roundabout, about 3.45pm. The rider, a 21-year-old Langwarrin man, was on an early model Yamaha 250cc with red P-plates when he hit a Ford sedan, almost going through the car’s windscreen and setting off the vehicle’s airbags.
